Alfonso Libano Daurella
Vice-President of COBEGA, S.A, the family group and Director and Member of the Executive Committee of Coca-Coca Europacific Partners
Alfonso comes from a family with a long history in the Family Business since the 19th Century. He is Vice-President of COBEGA, S.A, the family group and Director and Member of the Executive Committee of Coca-Coca Europacific Partners.
Holds several company directorships within the Coca-Cola system, such as Chairman of Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company, S.L, (Coca-Cola franchise for 13 African Countries) and was Director of the Board & Chairman of the CSR Committee of Coca-Cola European Partners (the largest European Coca-Cola franchise)
He has also been Trustee of The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation since 2004. In addition, he is a member of the boards of various public organizations including the AMCHAM (American Chamber of Commerce in Spain) and the MACBA Foundation (Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona).
Alfonso has been involved in the Instituto de la Empresa Familiar (IEF Spain) since 1991 as a Founding Member and Secretary of the Board of Directors, and currently as Member of the International Commission. Since 2007, he was also Vice-Chairman of the European Family Business (EFB), until his appointment as Chairman in 2015.
Alfonso is a former Board Member and Treasurer of FBN (2010-2016). He has been involved with the Family Business Institute of Spain (IEF), FBN Chapter in Spain, since 1991 as Founding Member and Secretary of the Board of Directors from 2000 to 2004.
He has also been Chair of the Polaris Community (soon to become FBN Impact Community) since 2018 and in his capacity as Chair of the Polaris Committee has attended almost all subsequent FBN Board meetings in an Observer capacity.
Despite his presence as an Observer, he has always been an active and engaged listener. He has provided many useful interventions and wise advice on various issues, when necessary, at Board meetings, drawing on his experience and knowledge of FBN and the family business ecosystem.
Besides, he has from time to time provided the current Chair and individual Board members with useful advice and guidance whenever it has been necessary and asked for. As Chair of Polaris, he played a leading role in developing the partnership with UNCTAD and together with them contributed to the establishment of the present FBN UNCTAD Pledge. He also helped develop the framework of the Family Business Sustainability Development initiative (FBSD), including the Sustainability Indicators for Family Business, and the reporting platform that is now in place. he is highly committed to sustainability agenda also in his corporate ventures too.
He was Chair of European Family Business (EFB) from 2015 to 2021. This was a significant responsibility and besides providing him the experience of leading a prestigious and influential international association he would be able to leverage his previous contacts with EFB to partner with and engage with FBN on matters of common interest.
Alfonso continues to be Vice-President of COBEGA, S.A. This would provide him the opportunity to travel to visit chapters and engage with members across the world.
And because of his knowledge and corporate experience in Africa and Asia, he would be able to help FBN develop potential new chapters in these geographies too.
