Emilie Bonamy

President of ELB Conseil and Executive Coach

Emilie Bonamy, I am an Executive coach and the mission of my firm, ELB Conseil is to contribute to the continuity and sustainability of Family businesses, by co-constructing their Governance and developing Leadership. I have been supporting families and family businesses for fifteen years and have had the opportunity to lead conferences and workshops for the FBN every year, including at the FBN Global summit.

I am also a tenth-generation family shareholder of Wendel, a French family group over three hundred years old, that has encountered crises and managed to overcome them, and this led me to embrace my responsibility as an owner and deepen the specificities of family and corporate governance.

Regarding my training, I did a Master of Litterature at La Sorbonne, Sciences-Po, and did ESSEC Business school. I did internships and exchanges in the United States and Brazil and speak fluent English and Portuguese.

Before founding ELB Conseil, I had 15 years of experience in large communication groups (Havas, Editis, Vivendi,) as a Strategic and Marketing Director, the CEO of a publishing house and as the Communication Director.

During these years I also founded a Philantropic association that helps people in situations of great loneliness or exclusion.

I am married, I am the mother of a 21 year old girl, the stepmother of my husband’s

daughters and their husbands, and a happy grandmother with four small and big children.

Session

What are the accelerators and the restraints to entice new generations to embrace ownership ?

Small Group Discussion

The takeover of ownership by new generations is the key to the longevity of the family business. However, this does not happen by itself. There is quite a gap between the intention and the realization.

By using the metaphor of a team on a boat that wants to reach a dream island, the now gen and the next gen will reflect in two groups on their strengths to reach this objective of transmission, but also the brakes and the obstacles that slow the team.

The points of view might be different or similar between the two groups, that will be the surprise, as we will collect all the post it on a common visual medium.

Through collective intelligence and each other’s experience the group will find good practices that work and new ideas.

This session will bring two generations together and help them understand the concerns of each of them for the success of transmission.
