
Sumitra Aswani
G4, Executive Director at Ishk Tolaram Foundation,
Sumitra is a fourth-generation member of Tolaram, a Singapore enterprise that began as a small retail shop in Indonesia in 1948 and now spans 16 countries, 20,000 employees, and 1 billion consumers. Her roles include Head of Purpose and Sustainability for the global entity and Founding Director at Ishk Tolaram, a philanthropic organisation providing access to quality education, employment, and healthcare in Tolaram’s key geographies.
Sumitra is an advocate for responsible stewardship across all family assets and has been learning to use her polycapital to create a more equitable world. This includes multiple voluntary engagements supporting other impact organisations like Generation Pledge, Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth, and the Family Business Network.
Beyond work, Sumitra is raising two daughters and investing in her creative and spiritual practices. She was previously trained as a family physician and continues to centre health and well-being in her personal and professional life.
